ABC News reported that the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles recommended that citizens avoid wearing dangerous footwear such as flip flops or driving barefoot. Officials confirmed the recommendation on the state government’s website, warning that improper footwear has been the cause of numerous serious vehicular accidents over the years. The state further cautioned drivers against wearing any footwear with an open heal to ensure stable foot support while driving.
